Project included the emergency evaluation of steel columns which were discovered to be severely corroded with section loss at the base of an existing seven story building. Work included extensive coordination with the contractor and owner to strategically expose the hidden but deficient conditions, an emergency evaluation of the columns in their present state, and the design of column reinforcing which could be implemented without the need for extensive temporary shoring and bracing. Work included the evaluation and ultimately the reinforcing of fourteen (14) existing steel columns.
